About the Department

The Department was formed as a result of a merger of teaching and research departments on 1 July 2016.  The following teaching Departments merged to form the Department:

• Department of Macroeconomic Regulation 
• Department of Economic Theory
• Department of Economic History and History of Economic Thought 

The Center for Macroeconomic Research of the Institute of Economic Policy and Economic Security Issues was also incorporated into the Department.  

The Department of Economic Theory laid the foundation of the Department of Economic Theory. It evolved from the Department of Political Economy (opened in 1946) and went through several development stages.

The teaching staff of the Department of Economic Theory is a team of 83 instructors that includes 25 Doctors of Economics and Professors, and 55 PhD (Econ.) degree holders.

• System of ratings of Russian economic research market players (ratings of leading economists, leading economic journals and leading economic schools (universities);
• Russia's institutional development efficiency assessment
