Professor Yunus

Muhammad Yunus visited the Financial University on 3 July 2019. The guest of honor was welcomed by M.A. Eskindarov, the Financial University Rector. The meeting was attended by A.S. Linnikov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and K. V. Simonov, Vice-Rector for External Communications.

Professor Yunus greeted the University representatives on the occasion of the 100thanniversary of the Financial University. He was interested to learn about the University development strategy.  Professor Yunus and Professor Eskindarov had a tour of the University Museum of Finance. Mr. Yunus met Abdulla Mamun, a student of the Financial University Faculty of Foundation Programs who also came from Bangladesh. The student completed a course of Russian during the 2018/2019 academic year and got prepared for enrolling to the University as a 1st-year student.

The key outcome of the meeting was an agreement to open a Social Business Center at the Financial University. It will be a Russian element of an international chain of social business centers.  Mr. Yunus created the chain in order to curb poverty, improve living standards and support socially important business initiatives.

The Financial University International Relations Office staff members would like to thank our guest of honor for the visit. We would also like to thank Monica Yunus, Mr. Yunus' daughter, and our colleagues from the Bank of Russia for arranging the fruitful meeting. We sincerely hope that Professor Yunus will be so kind as to attend the Sixth Financial University International Economic Forum that will be held in November 2019.
