The traditional First Year Students' Debut competition was held on 20 December 2018 in the FinU Assembly Hall located at Leningradsky Prospekt 51/1.
This is probably the most impressive student event of the year 2018 that is coming to an end. According to the staff of the Department for Extracurricular Activities that has organized the event, the key event goal is to promote student creativity, find talents and proactive people among the first-year students in order to further develop their abilities and facilitate their self-realization.
This year, 14 Faculties participated in the competition titled Congratulations to the University on the Occasion of the Anniversary. It was dedicated to the upcoming 100th anniversary of the University. Two independent groups of examiners assessed the students' performance. Representatives of the University management were members of the first group and Deans of Faculties were members of the second group. According to the rules, no Faculty Dean could assess the performance of the students of his/her Faculty. Performance of each team was to last for not more than 8 minutes.
The first-year students determined the order of performances through a special draw, and the celebration began. Each Faculty has prepared a performances based on a story. It included various acts, the students sang, danced, performed a theatrical act, made a parody, etc. The guests who had gathered in a huge hall warmly welcomed the students' performances that included ballroom dancing, modern and old songs, videos made by the participants, thematic sketches and even a performance of a group of drummers.
Participants' and winners' certificates were handed out by Professor Eskindarov, Financial University Rector, an honorary member of the examiners' group, and Elena Markina, Vice-Rector for Teaching, member of the group of examiners that included representatives of the University management. The students of the Faculty of Management, Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Information Technology, and Faculty of International Tourism, Sport Business and Hospitality Industry who occupied the first, second and third places respectively got tours to St. Petersburg, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod.
