The Financial University will participate in the unique From Kuna to Bitcoin exhibition on May 11, 2018. It describes the history of money circulation in Russia. All types of coins ranging from the first coins found on the territory of Ancient Rus' to electronic money will be on display. Paper money and copies of coins from various periods (Ancient Rus', silver and gold coins with portraits of Russian emperors and empresses, giant coins, etc.) will be on display. However, not only coins but purses and coin albums of different epochs as well as calculating machines of the late 19th - 20th centuries will be shown in order to better depict various historical periods. Visitors will be able to perform 'time travel' and examine how money reforms have changed the appearance and size of banknotes. For example, the banknotes issued in 1947 were called Stalin's footcloths for their large size, the banknotes issued in 1961 were called Khrushchev's candy wrappers for their small size comparable to that of a candy wrapper. The 'time travel' will end at the display where the first and most popular cryptocurrency, bitcoin, will be shown. The exhibition is timed to coincide with the upcoming 100th Financial University anniversary. It will be celebrated on March 2, 2019.
